The GPC-AACN Critical Care Education Consortium is a collaboration of regional clinical nurse specialists, educators, and managers representing 9 hospitals/hospital systems. Since 1997 the Consortium has offered a 6 day core critical care program 3 times a year for those new to the critical care setting. The Consortium is the recipient of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses Circle of Excellence award for excellence in collaboration and education.

Consortium goals include:

  • Setting a community standard for critical care education.
  • Access to quality critical care education for the nursing community.
  • A reduction of duplicate efforts in critical care courses.
  • An increased pool of clinical experts to present at the critical care courses.
  • A reduced cost to members for critical care education.
  • Contact hours for participants.

The GPC-AACN Introduction to Critical Care course is designed to be the didactic portion of a concurrent precepted orientation experience for a registered nurse or for senior nursing students with a concurrent precepted clinical rotation.

The program is free for Consortium member approved participants. To register for a course, contact your critical care educator, clinical nurse specialist, or nurse manager.

Non-Consortium participants may Download: Critical Care Consortium Registration form or contact Donna Hunter at gpcsupport@comcast.net or 503-590-5788 for information.

Consortium member institutions include: Adventist Medical Center, Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center, Legacy Health  Hospitals, Oregon Health & Science University, Portland VA Medical Center, Providence Health System Hospitals (Portland Service Area), Salem Hospital, Southwest Washington Medical Center, and Tuality Healthcare.
